Dr Diana Ayoola Mabayoje
Dr Diana Ayoola Mabayoje is a Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology at Barts Health NHS Trust.
With personal experience of malaria from her childhood in Nigeria, she also holds clinical expertise in its treatment. She is a member of the UK Malaria Expert Advisory Group (UK MEAG), providing guidance to health professionals on the prevention of malaria in travellers from the UK. She co-founded the African Diaspora Malaria initiative.
Dr Mabayoje is committed to community engagement in healthcare, global health, and infectious diseases education. She has served on the interim advisory group for the NIHR Centre for Engagement and Dissemination. She is currently on the advisory board for Kings College London's Fight the Fakes campaign, tackling falsified antimalarials and antibiotics. As part of a multidisciplinary group, she worked with University College London and The Lancet Journal on The Lancet Nigeria Commission. This report was launched in March 2022, providing analysis and a plan to inform the delivery of health goals for the next decade for Nigeria.
